Nice to meet you, my name is mochi from the BOOTH store “Omochiya-san”.
I usually create 3D models of cute and delicious things, such as costumes with sweets and candy motifs.
We presented our new costume ” Bonbon_Fille ” at the end of last year and recently produced additional Valentine materials, so I thought I would write an article about my favorite aspects of it and the things I focused on.

1. Introduction
1.1 What is Bonbon_Fille?
We commissioned Memeroland to draw a design in sweets x china, and Omochiya made this costume in 3D.
You produced a wonderful fluffy and cute design! This time we also asked for a thumbnail image. (We’ll talk about the design decision somewhere else…)
1.2 Shape and Fabric
Overall, it has the presence of a fluffy cream cake!
However, I was conscious of tightening the waist to avoid bloating, and created the 3D model with this in mind.
The bust and skirt have a satin-like sheen on the underside, the ribbons are gold embroidered in a loose luster, and so on,
The textures are separated to avoid monotony.
The skirt is lame to make it more sparkly and prominent.

2. about Valentine materials
2.2 Inspiration for production
Every year for Valentine’s Day, I go to the chocolate booth at the department store and buy chocolates that interest me with a budget of up to 10,000 yen. This year again, I purchased chocolates with cute packages!
In addition, I went to the Valentine’s Day afternoon tea.
After all, Valentine’s Day is a time when chocolate packages sparkle, and just looking at them is exciting…!
Bonbon_Fille already has a lot of cute color variations thanks to our wonderful designers, but since it is a candy motif costume, we wanted to create materials for Valentine’s Day as well! I wanted to make a material for Valentine’s Day as well!
2.3 Design commitment and thoughts
About the pattern
I was wondering whether to use a simple chocolate color or a pattern, but since tartan check was the only pattern available at this time, I decided to use a pattern this time. (This is the pattern.)

Determining color and balance
Several temporary textures and colors were created, and each was tested to see the overall balance.
As a result, we decided that the brown in the middle looked best.

Emphasis on the tasty parts
The fruit is covered with chocolate and the cherries are truffle style. Orangettes are delicious.
In addition, I used the Height function in Substance Painter to give it a bit of a 3D look. A useful tool!
I want my shoes to be special too.
The shoes were made to the ice cream specifications that I had envisioned in my mind for some time.
Since I was so excited, I also added chocolate spray.
The key is to add color to the edges of the drooping part and write a three-dimensional effect so that the color does not become too bright.
It’s almost finished, though,
Around here, I started thinking about making another pattern of chocolates because one would be lonely.
Since we’re at it, let’s make a cake pattern, too.
Here I got greedy and tried a cake pattern, even though I felt it was a little off from Valentine’s Day.
I usually do not draw design drawings for texture work, but directly place colors as I work, so this time, too, I will apply an illustration of a strawberry and experiment with size and color.
I decided on the chocolate version right away, but I was quite confused about the strawberry. Without a design drawing, I spend quite a bit of time wondering, which makes me feel a little sorry for myself.

I decided on the first one based on my overall impression.
What to watch out for
I am usually careful not to be too realistic.
I would put in larger stitches and patterns, and try not to blur the shadows too much… (To the degree of realism, it would be like a Disney cast member’s costume). (In terms of realism, I imagine it’s like a Disney cast member’s costume)
I am conscious of the fact that using a substance painter tends to make it more realistic, so I have made a conscious effort to modify it.
2.4 Final Design

3. impressions after making it
The colorful arrangement of the ruffles and shoes, which we had not done before, gave a more molly-sweet feeling to the product, which I think was good.
I was also reminded of the designer’s ability to come up with silhouettes that would be very cute no matter what pattern or color arrangement was used.
Also, although the sale was on Valentine’s Day, we were very happy to see on social networking sites that many people were wearing it at events and other occasions. Thank you to everyone who wore them!
This design was released for Valentine’s Day, but since it was originally a candy costume, we hope that those who like it and purchase it will be able to wear it on a regular basis as well. Maybe you can wear the cake to a birthday party…!
