We hope you can tell that this is how we make avatar costumes!
1. Impetus
Simple is best!
It is an exaggeration to say this, but I sometimes like simple costumes.
I think it is better to keep it simple, especially when it comes to costumes that convey a sense of elegance.
We started making costumes based on the concept of being simple, cute, and classy.
When it comes to a sense of elegance, it is curtesy.
The curtesy is a gesture seen in movies set in the Middle Ages, in which a woman holds the edge of her skirt and bows.
Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to curtesy when greeting people?
In this case, we focused on the ability to do a clean carte-see!

2. Design
The design was done by Hiro Mashiro ( https://twitter.com/mashir_oxo ).
We always ask for the impossible, but you have been very helpful in incorporating our requests into excellent designs!
And here is the final design.
They made it very cute and elegant!
In particular, I completely fell in love with the skirt, with its firmer accents that added to its cuteness and elegance.
I don’t think it is too much to say that this is a costume for curtesy! (LOL!
3. Modeling
Don’t you think a pretty skirt and a beautiful skirt change shape?
I sometimes think, on my own, that a pretty skirt will have a larger bulge and a beautiful skirt will have a smaller bulge.
Next is the skirt in progress and the finished version, and I think the skirt bulge in the finished version is cuter than the one in progress!
Before correction
After modification
In addition, not only the fluffy skirt hem, but also the seams are made in three dimensions.
Weighted application will be more difficult, but it will look richer if it is made in three dimensions!
4. Weight Painting
When a skirt has a three-dimensional effect, the weighted paint is the devil’s advocate.
I use auto weighting to set the weight of the skirt, but that alone messes up both the lumpy accents and the three-dimensionality of the seams.
So, the weight adjustment will be done manually.
Automatic weighting only
Manual weight adjustment
And how to adjust the weights is to select each vertex and copy and paste the weight values!
1 I want the edge and skirt vertex to have the same weight.
2 Select the vertex you want to match
3 Select and copy target vertex
4 All selected vertices have the same weight.
In this way, the skirt vertices can be matched to the edge weights.
If the weights are matched, they will not penetrate each other even if the skirts are moved significantly.
Of course, it takes a lot of time and effort, but the only way to get a beautiful curtesy is to do the hard work!
5. Texture
We wanted to create a firm, thick fabric feel, so we added a fabric mesh.
When viewed up close, the appearance of the mesh increases the sense of luxury!
6. Add Item
I added a hat and a satchel bag because I was lonely with just a dress.
I didn’t think about it at first, but it ended up looking like a school uniform for a young lady’s school.
I’m making it by hand, and before I know it, I’m adding accessories (sweat).
7. Completion
The Phys Bone of the skirt was adjusted to grab the hem.
My goal was to have a beautiful young lady’s curtesy!
The weights were adjusted by hand, so there is no breakdown of the skirt’s three-dimensional mokoro even after curtesying.
If you go to all the trouble of curtesying only to have it fall apart, it’s hard to get excited, isn’t it?
If you would like to take a look at our sales website, we would be happy to help!
*Please let me know if there are any problems! We will do our best to correct it!
